things are pretty quiet now as one handed typing is really slow. scott snapped these awesome shots of sunset at our house last night. i'm puttering along with wearing sweats and a tshirt to work every day and getting weekly xrays to ensure things stay aligned while healing.

Nope!

Bummed to report that we're still without power. The most recent estimate we've been given is Friday or Saturday but we're sure hoping that's the pessimistic power company 'setting our expectations only to later delight us by over-delivering' timeline. Still feeling lucky that nothing worse happened as we have a 200 footer in our yard that remained upright and some of our neighbors weren't so lucky. We're also not feeling alone as there's still an estimated 200,000 area households without power.

Holmes Point Drive

Shot of some of the many trees down and sitting on powerlines on the road to our house. Today is day 4 with no power and we hear we may have a week to go. No damage to our home so we're feeling pretty lucky overall. We've several neighbors with 200' trees sitting on and inside their homes.

Magic basin!

While scanning the Wired list of upcoming nano prodcuts for the home - think fridges with nano-coatings that penetrate bacterial cells to inhibit growth to keep food fresher, windshield treatment that keeps anything from sticking and bacteria killing ceramic glazes (please tell me that's not a toothbrush on the rim of a toilet ?), I stumbled across this Villeroy & Boch Magic Basin:

I don't know about you, but one of my biggest house pet peeves is faucets/fixtures that extend so far out over the basin that it's impossible to wash your face over the basin without clonking your head on the fixture! There are the ones that shoot the water out of the walls, but then I (and granted this is just because I'm completely un-coordinated) soak my entire head! This magic basin may be the sink of my dreams!!

Unpacking

We're finally finding the bottoms of *some* boxes in *some* rooms. Here's a shot of the teetering piles in the room where all the paper and boxes go once they're unpacked:

...and here's me (Where's Chris?) somewhat trapped behind a pile of papers after I dropped them off. Can you find me?

House!

We've bought a house in the Holmes Point area of Kirkland, Wa! We've got some cute little views of Lake Washington:

They've since topped some of the deciduous trees (not the awesome evergreens) you can see here - opens up the view quite a bit.

It's an all right house....but you know us, we'll be making some pretty major changes. We're planning to completely redo the kitchen (cabinets, new bamboo flooring, countertops and a slight re-configure of workspaces)and a bunch of other stuff. For the sake of documentation - here's the listing pictures. We'll post some more when we get in and unpacked later this month.
