My cousin Frank recently sent me this awesome picture of my grandmother serving pierogi - Oh YUM! to my father and some of his cousins. Thanks, Frank! Extra sweet as grandma's birthday would have been next Friday.
My dad was featured with some regularity in the local paper (I'll have to look for the one of him with the report card that he didn't want to show his mother!), as his uncle Gene was a Binghamton Press photog after he returned home from his duty as a Navy (I think that's the right branch?) photographer in WW2. Family lore has it that he turned down a job offer from National Geographic to come home to Binghamton to work so he could be near the rest of our family. I'm sure glad he did. Here's a shot of him from one of our family scrapbooks:
