Dawn's post about her dreams reminded me of a strange one I had recently. The basic thing was (I never can exactly remember the situations): somehow the land parts of the earth were about to become uninhabitable, and Scott and I were lucky enough to not only get early warning of this, but to have a choice to make. Some, um, entity (I have no recollection about who was administering this choice) offered us two options. Option 1 was that we would be allowed to return to land (during the choice-making, we were floating in the ocean in veiw of land) and live as we had, but only for the period of a week. After that, we would die. Option 2 was that we would be able to live out our natural lives, but we would have to live them on water. Just on water - no getting dropped on an island or anything. (Also, there wer NO other people to be seen anywhere. Maybe we were the last people left on earth. That must have been it, because I realized that if we stayed on the island that we would likely have to really consider having children).
We were given some non-specific amount of time to make up our minds. We were leaning toward the water thing, but decided we'd better see if it was even feasible. Since we were just, like floating in the water, we swam to some shallow water and started trying to create an island by digging and piling sand ('cause I guess we realized that without some kind of island we were going to have to find/make some kind of 'structure' to live on). After what seemed like hours of digging and piling, we had only made a small hump just below the surface that was about big enough for one of us to sit on.
Then we decided that there were some serious questions to be answered - like if we choose the water choice, do we get any prep time?
Then I woke up.
weird.
When I first really met Shelley while working at RealNetworks, she had a dream analysis book on her desk. I remember that I thought that was SOOO interesting. Shel (and everyone else) - what do you make of the above? What wacky ones have you had recently?
This sounds like a fairly significant obstacle dream - as obvious as a looming choice that you and Scott will have to address suddenly and quickly (kids?). For nostalgia's sake, I consulted said book. Here are a few intersting quotes: "to swim in the ocean signifies that you will soon be enlarging your sphere of influence and/or activity" "if the digging was hard or slow-going, you can expect to struggle for a while" "to be questioned is an obstacle dream, the meaning of which relates to whether or not you could give satisfactory answers."
Last night I dreamed that our new show opened at the theatre where I work. 10,000 people showed up, I forgot to wear pants, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman & Keifer Sutherland arrived and said they wanted to jam on stage with the cast, even though they were under an exclusive contract with Chevrolet. No idea.

Dreams? That's when you sleep, right?
Shelley Mac! Oh My. It's a gathering, isn't it... :-) And yes, Christine, I do owe you about ten emails. Big kisses to you and Scott!

Interesting one. I think the floating on water this is also very symbolic of childbirth (think back to the womb)...really, I think I've read that in a dream analysis book! Plus you also said the dream was about making a decision about children...so there's my interpretation for you :-)
